Who Should Attend?

This training should be taken by anyone who may need to administer lifesaving first aid to an infant or baby.

Training Method

We use an audio and visual presentation, with handouts and practical activities including using a defibrillator.


Our open courses are held in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. We also deliver on-site training.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid Training
Course Description

This training course covers the following modules:

  • applying first aid to a child who is choking or suffering from shock
  • assessing the circumstances to act safely and effectively in an emergency
  • giving appropriate first aid to a child who is unconscious, wounded and bleeding
  • performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if a child has stopped breathing or their heart has stopped beating
  • providing care for minor injuries such as small cuts, grazes, bruises and minor burns
  • recording incidents and actions
  • use of available equipment such as defibrillators and tourniquets
