Who Should Attend?

Training should be taken by anyone who may need to administer first aid in a high-risk workplace.

Training Method

We use an audio and visual presentation with handouts and practical activities including using a defibrillator.


Our open courses are held in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. We also deliver on-site training.

First Aid at Work Training
Course Description

This training course is valid for three years and covers the following modules:

  • administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if someone has stopped breathing or their heart has stopped beating
  • administering first aid to a casualty who is suffering from:
anaphylactic shock
burns and scalds
chest injuries
eye injuries
injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries 
sudden poisoning
  • applying first aid to a casualty who is choking, suffering from shock and/or who is unconscious, wounded and bleeding
  • assessing the circumstances to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • checking for the presence of major illness (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes)
  • providing care and preventing infections for minor injuries such as small cuts, grazes, bruises and minor burns
  • recording incidents and actions for your workplace records
  • using available equipment such as defibrillators and tourniquets
